Sunday Morning Community Groups

Sunday morning Community Groups offer many opportunities for spiritual growth in the Christian faith. With the goal to give everyone “a place to connect,” we offer groups with varied subject matter, style and size. Pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center.   • A Bible-based discussion-oriented class of adults of all ages and stages of life.
  • A Bible-based teaching and discussion-oriented class of adults of all ages. Jesus' life with practical applications from various perspectives.
  • A discussion-oriented, scripture-based class of young adults through 30. We also offer opportunities outside of class for study and fellowship.
  • A discussion and application-oriented Bible study of adults–ages 20s to 40s+, who are interested in growing together in the Lord to be better Christian people and parents.
  • A discussion-oriented, Bible-based class for adults of all ages.
  • A discussion-oriented, Bible-based class of all age adults. Seekers study the Bible and periodically use additional resources to enhance the study and stimulate discussion.
  • A lively Bible-based discussion-oriented class for all ages and stages of life. Resource: The Church of God "Bridges" curriculum.
  • A Bible-based discussion-oriented class of all ages and stages of life. New members are welcomed and encouraged to join at any time.
  • A Bible-based lecture format with class discussion following. All ages.

Watch for these NEW Classes beginning after the first of the year…

Peacemaking Class

  • Sunday mornings at 9:45am Feb. 15, 22 and March 1, 8, 15 and 22 at the church. Dr. Chris Cottrell will use the book, The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict by Ken Sande to present practical Biblical guidance for life-changing reconciliation and conflict resolution.

Bioethics: The Crossroads of History, Philosophy, Religion, Science and Pop Culture

  • Sunday evenings for eight-weeks beginning February 8 at the church. Member Dr. Judy Westman will lead this course that looks at the ethical implications of biological research and applications through the media and movies. Topics include: religion and ethics, justice of health care, death and dying, prenatal diagnosis, human experimentation, stem cell research and others.

Smart Discipline Seminar

  • March 3 at the church. Larry Koenig, Ph.D., author of Smart Discipline: Fast, Lasting Solutions for Your Child’s Self-Esteem and Your Peace of Mind, will be here to share with parents, grandparents and caregivers.

Forgiveness Within the Family

  • Tuesday evenings, March 3 through April 7 at the church. Member Dr. Jim Collins will lead this elective that focuses on healing.

Weekday Community Groups

Weekday Community Groups also offer many opportunities for spiritual growth. With the goal to give everyone “a place to connect,” we offer groups with varied subject matter, style and size. Sunday Evening

  • A study and spiritual discussion of the book of Exodus and how it can be applied to our everyday lives.
  • We will take a verse-by-verse look at Ephesians and its application to our daily walk.

MondayMost Weekday groups meet in a members home in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • This group of young women (ages post-college through 35) is studying Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy by Beth Moore.
  • This is a personal growth study and discussion using the study book as a springboard to deeper issues.
  • Topical discussion of the book titled: 12 Lies Husbands Tell Their Wives by Tim and Sheila Riter.

Tuesday

  • This group discusses a variety of Christian literature, primarily nonfiction.Stop by the Welcome Center or Connections Table in the lobby to pick up a Community Groups brochure.

Wednesday

  • We are studying women of the Bible. Women are important to the plan of God. This study looks at 12 women in the Bible to see what we can learn from them about following Him more closely.

Thursday

  • Our topic deals with Spiritual Gifts and how to give those gifts. Gifts show us how God has uniquely equipped us to build up the body of Christ.
  • This group follows programs published by the national office for Women of the Church of God to promote missions education, spiritual and personal growth, fellowship, and support.
