“Salvation is not the goal of the
Christian life. It is the beginning of it.” Timothy
Kight
Focused Living is about the pursuit of excellence in Christ.
It is not about do-it-yourself techniques for personal fulfillment
or hyped-up motivational strategies. Rather, it focuses on
growing in Christ, building the character and courage necessary
to live effectively for Christ, and adopting a holy lifestyle
through the power of God’s Spirit.
SELF MANAGEMENT IN CHRIST
Focused Living is not a “self-help” program.
Paul makes it crystal clear that the power for the Christian
life comes from God:
2 Corinthians 4.7 “But we have this treasure in
earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs
to God and not to us... So we do not lose heart. Though our
outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed
every day.”

Remember Proverbs 5:23: “He
dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly
he is lost.”
We derive our ability to exercise self-management from our
relationship with Christ. Self-management is a fruit of the
Spirit.
Galatians 5.22-23: “The fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness,
and self-discipline.”
